What happens if the weather changes?

For a weather backup plan, we have the awning. It would keep guests dry and out of the rain. But in Colorado, rain does not last very long. If needed, the ceremony could be moved under the awning, but usually the ran moves through fast, and we just stay under cover until it passes and move back outside for the ceremony.

What do the seasons at Lost Pond look like?

Spring: Spring weather can be unpredictable, which is why we wait until May to host weddings. Even then, you might get warm sunshine, or a surprise snow shower. If you’re planning a spring wedding, it’s best to be prepared for either direction. The good news? Spring also brings full wildflower blooms and vibrant green landscapes, making it one of the prettiest times of year to say “I do.”

Summer: Summers in Colorado tend to be hot and dry, with the occasional afternoon thunderstorm. The good news is that these storms usually pass quickly, often in just 15 to 30 minutes, before the sunshine returns. At Lost Pond, the reception area stays a bit cooler thanks to the shade from the bluff and the cool air drifting off the pond. And because of the stream, pond, and waterfalls, the property stays lush and green all summer long, even when the rest of the area starts to dry out.

Fall: Fall brings another beautiful burst of wildflower blooms, with white asters and goldenrod showing off their colors. The days start to cool, and by October the leaves begin to change, adding warm autumn tones to the landscape. Nights can get a bit brisk this time of year, so it’s smart to be prepared for chilly evening temperatures, but the cozy fall atmosphere is absolutely worth it.
